    Default Dialogue Window

I wonder if adding the date/time to entries in the Dialogue Window would be useful?

Certainly it would be a way of keeping track of render times - especially when using third party applications that render a sequence of images for use in animations. It would certainly beat having to refer to the file creation times in Explorer.

    Default Alter>Shadow

I'd like to see an option on Alter>Shadow that would work with 3D solids -

In primitive mode, primitives to be moved so that their lowest Z point is at the current Z=0 height.

In Object mode, the objects to be moved so that the object hook point is at the current Z=0 height.

    Default Environment Migration

A tool to migrate pre-2010 MicroGDS environments to MicroGDS 2010 is something that should be offered as a free download as soon as possible!

    John,

Great idea! What a pity I don't need it now. What I would really like to see is the manual! Frolicking about in the help files is such a pain.

    Default Instance Assemblies - Burning-In

When burning-in Instance Assemblies, the user should be prompted with an option to automatically burn-in the Instance Objects that belong to the assemblies.

    Cool .3ds translator

There are some frustrating flaws/bugs in the .3ds translator (materials, geometry etc.)
It would greatly enhance my work on the BIM library if they were ironed out, samples available if required. I tried to e-mail some to support but the files were too big...

    Apart from that, mgds rocks!

    James,
can you provide a few more details?

What are you trying to do with 3DS and how does it relate to BIM?
Are you trying 3DS Import, or Export?
Do you have a cut-down model which you can e-mail or post?

    Hi Neil,

I've replied already, but it seems to have got lost...

I'm building up a library of 3D objects for use by mgds users (free). It's a way of keeping busy till the job market picks up.

www.archibaseplanet,com/gdi is one of the sources I am using.

.3DS Materials tend not to translate properly. they're often there, but set to DEFAULT. Sometimes the geometry is also wrong (but not from this site).

Have a look on the website, download something, open it in mgds and the problems will be apparent.

    Best regards,

    James.

    Samples attached.

    1) microgds.

    2) what it should look like....

Note that apart from the materials, the geometry is also wrong (see the legs).

    regards,

    James.

Ah - yes - we may have seen something like this before.

Which particular file in the archive is this?
