I think that mixing up of editing contraints with commands may lead ultimately to confusion.
Well, we already sort of have some constraints for Spaghetti Trace. What I am suggesting is not much more extensive than that (and if we get a ribbon bar could sensibly be included there.)

Perhaps a compromise solution would be to extend the options in Set Edit to include a Layer list too. We can, after all, already use Set Edit while still in the Area Trace command.

Yes MGDS helpfully does it for you in a single user file, if you use clone window and have the window refer to the same layers.
Original window has to be renamed windowX not WindowX think it might be bug??

I can't reproduce that behaviour... could you please let me know the version of MicroGDS and give me step-by-step instructions. Cheers!

    Colin

Window clone always creates a window called WindowN for me, Where N is different and larger than any windows called WindowX,

Is that not happening for you? How are you cloning the window (there is more than one way)

    MGDS v10.0.4
    Its easy...
make a new man file.. creates default Window1
draw a rectangle.. just to make sure there is a default layer
rename Window1 to window1 in document organiser using right click on name
window clone via right click in document organiser
    .

The real fun begins when you save views in any of the windows

Hey Colin, did you always break your toys when you were a kid too!

    But he's right you know.

Not sure why you'd rename WindowX to windowX though ....

    Oh ****.

MicroGDS's rule which says "when creating a new window, pick a Window<n> name which doesn't match any existing window" is not spotting the window with a lower case 'w', and therefore you end up with two windows, one called window1 and the other called Window1.

It then gets worse, because MicroGDS isn't expecting to have two windows which differ only in case, and gets confused in various ways
