One of our partners will be at KBIS (Kitchen & Bath Industry Show) next week and they're looking for a Piranesi rendering of their kitchen model.
If anyone has time to give it a go, we'll offer a small prize for any that are shown. Maybe a Piranesi upgrade, an Amazon voucher, something like that...
You can download the EPix file from here (3.4 MB).
Please add your image to this thread, if possible, and email the full size version to me at david.cooper@informatix.co.uk
Thanks!
David
This is the original image in the EPix file:

These things are always interesting to see the different styles and creativity which transpires from such a challenge. I saw this post this morning and decided to take a swing at it.
Here is my submission. I was unsure if we were to stick to the original materials assigned in the epix file, so as such, the materials in my rendering reflect the initial file.
Thanks David for throwing out the opportunity to have some fun with Piranesi, outside of the regular day to day owrk related renderings.
This is my result, cost me 3 hours to finish it.Lots of time is to add more details to strengthen the power of the performance. Just like to create more lights in the scene including sun shine, electric lights and diffuse lights. Also, improve the materials textures, make these more real.I still walk on the way between the real world and the hand drawing world.
And...Congratulations! David A. Walker,ur image is perfect! Very impressive~! The trace of brushes r so cool, that I must to say u r the very special one!
I have to say this post is very interesting and exciting~!Thanks! David Cooper.
Here are examples using some "one-click" styles that come with Piranesi.
It's great to see the hand-rendered images that have been posted here. But sometimes there isn't the money or time to justify doing this, and all you need is something quick that looks reasonable.
If you select the Multifill tool, you can pick various styles from the style selector at the top left. Just click on the drawing and if you don't like it, undo and try another.
Sometimes I find that the styles don't produce good renderings for some drawings. Maybe the image is too dark, over saturated, or a material lock is needed to avoid spurious lines found by the depth lock.
So I often apply the individual multifill styles by hand. If I don't like the effect of one of the steps, I can adjust the settings and reapply with control-R, or even skip over the step. You can find them in the Style Manager under Piranesi Tools / Multifills / 02 Data.
By the way, if you have 2010 Pro, apply our patch update first because some of the original styles need updating to fix their use of the erase tool.
