I have Piranesi 4.0 and the Vedute version that came with it. This version of Vedute doesn't seem to be able to read FBX files. Is that correct?

That's correct, Vedute reading FBX files is a new feature in 5.1.

I've come back to Piranesi after a long hiatus using photorealism in Revit. Piranesi is a wonderful tool, and I'm learning more about it's capabilities. I love working with it. But the one drawback is the importation of shadow information from a Revit model.

Do you have an upgrade pricing structure, or do I have to buy the whole package at full rate?

Also, is there a way in 4.0 to import rendering files for shadows, etc. from Revit 2010? Please advise. Thanks.

Upgrade pricing is available, please see www.piranesi.co.uk/shop for details.

You can download the trial of Piranesi 5.1 from http://www.piranesi.co.uk/trial/trial_home.asp and give the Revit link a try out. Unfortunately we did all our testing with Revit 2009, and 2010 fbx files are broken, but we do have a fix under test, so if you let me know when you download the trial I can send you the fixed version - which we are still testing.

I'm afraid I don't know of another way of getting epix files with shadows into Piranesi 4.0

Brian, How about a link to Vedute Beta that can handle Revit 2010 FBX files? Since Revit has become the "Industry Standard" it would be nice that Piranesi couldwork seemlessly with it. Right now, I still have to do a "Workaround."

Yes a link to a Beta download would be nice, 'zanzibarbob' what workaround are you using to get past this Revit 2010 problem of vedute crashing when opening .fbx files?? Would be most appreciated if you could let me know.

Hi bowdea01,

I've emailed you details of an updated Vedute that can read FBX files from Revit 2010.

This is currently in beta, but available on request if anyone has this problem.

David
