Hi Agrazdi
CAn you please let us know which version you are using
4.0, 5.0.1, 5.0.2 ....?
Is it Windows or Mac?
Can you please send us your png file (piranesi_support@informatix.co.uk).
Are you using it as a raster brush or as a a stamp?

I have had an offline discussion with agrazdi and got to the bottom of the problem.
If the brush file has an alpha channel then Piranesi will use that channel for the opacity/transparency of the brush and ignore the graduation of the colour in the rgb channel.
The easiest way of creating yourself a brush is as follows:
1) Draw/paint your stroke on a piece of paper
2) scan the mark.
3) in an Image editor, make the file a greyscale image. Make sure all areas you want to be transparent are white
4) crop and save your file as a png file.
If people want to convert wang wang brushes into this format then this is how to do it in Photoshop.
1. Open the file
2. Flatten the layer so it has a white background
3. Now change the mode so that it is greyscale
4. Save the file
