Hi, I'm using the piranesi for the first time and I want to achieve a hand painted effect like the pictures below.
The last picture is the one that I tried myself but I'm not very happy with it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to improve it?
I use 3d Studio Max and I save it in piranesi format and then I texturize it using piranesi.

Thanks in advance.

To start, I usually model in SketchUp and by doing so am able to control the export in terms of line color. By selecting a light gray line vs a black line the edges of the image become much softer... similar to those you show as examples. If you can't control the export of the model in this manner you can flood paint the 3DS export and then use the restore brush with an ink setting of say 20% to gradually bring the lines into view.

The difference between Piranesi and PR renderers is the fact that you can control the color or texture application in a "painterly" fashion. try using the fade or use repetitive brush strokes to bring some more variation and brush strokes into the image.

just some quick thoughts.
